Il Tocco, which comes from the selection of a single plot of vineyard, is a wine that stands out for its balance between elegance and intensity.
Appellation: Orcia Sangiovese Riserva DOC
Variety: 90% Sangiovese, 10% Colorino
Vine training system: Gobelet
Altitude: 550 m.s.l.
Vinification: after the harvest, prefermentation cold soaking is carried out for 48 hours. Then fermentation starts in steel tanks; the whole maceration on skins process lasts 30 days during which daily punch-down and pump-over are carried out.
Ageing: at least 24 months in small French oak barrels and at least 6 months of bottle ageing.
Winemaker’s note: great and meticulous care shape a glass of Il Tocco. On the nose it is intriguing thanks to notes of small black fruits, particularly blackberry and cassis, forest floor aromas, liquorice, spices, dried violets and balsamic hints. On the palate its elegance and texture explode: the tannins are fine and complex. What I love about Il Tocco is the way it changes and develops in the glass along with its intense and long lasting finish, just as you would expect it to end.
